This is a 2-in-1 review of Stila's Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow and Winky Lux's Kitten Palette.

As I clicked "make payment", I felt a wave of buyer's remorse surge through me. I looked back at the colour selection in Winky Lux's Kitten Palette and thought to myself, what have I done?

Luckily, I purchased this palette during the Black Friday sales, so my buyer's remorse was only fleeting. As a full-time student, I can't really afford to mess up when it comes to a makeup purchase.

I placed my order on the 11th of November and finally on the 27th of December - it arrived! So, my order took about 6.5 weeks to deliver compared to the website's estimate of 2-4. I can forgive the delay because I did order pretty close to Christmas (and paid just AUD $6.50 for postage) when the volume of parcels being sent is astronomical and delays are unavoidable.

I can also forgive the delay because I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I really enjoy this palette!

The colours blend out like a dream and are very easy to build up. According to Winky Lux's website, the shadows have 4 different types of finish - matte, satin, holographic and shimmer.

While the pan size is not huge, there is a very decent amount of product for a reasonable price point too - AUD $32.65 for 9 versatile shades.

For the price, I would probably expect a mirror in the palette. I understand when a Colourpop palette is sans mirror, at just AUD $20.50 for 12 shades (albeit, considerably smaller pans) what they lack in mirror they make up for in product. However, I would say that the quality of eyeshadow is slightly better than that of the Colourpop Yes, Please! Palette (you can find my review of that palette on my blog page).

Another bonus of the Winky Lux palette is the cute packaging and the fact that they are a cruelty free brand!

Now, onto Stila's Magnificent Metals range...

At the moment, I have only raised the funds to buy just one. At AUD $35 a pop from Mecca Cosmetica, they're not exactly cheap.

Given the price point, I knew that I would have to choose my colour wisely. So which one did I pick? Sea Siren of course! Because I never wear any sort of blue on my eyes ever and I thought that would be a good idea...why, exactly?

Lucky for me - it turned out to be a very good idea.

I had originally planned on combining Sea Siren with the blue colour in the Kitten Palette. But, I kept finding myself drawn towards the burgundy red shade and wondering what a layer of shimmery blue and lilac would look like over the top of it.

So, I went for it and I was once again pleasantly surprised by the result.

As for the liquid eyeshadows themselves, the Sea Siren shade is ah-mazing. The product was so easy to apply and did not clump or crumble on my eyelid. It sat perfectly on top of my base eyeshadows and did not blend into them or create a funky colour underneath. Throughout the night, the glitter stayed on my eye and did not fall onto my face - unheard of!!

I did experience some transfer to my bottom lid - but I think that had more to do with my application technique than the product itself. They should definitely be applied sparsely and not directly from the wand itself but transferred onto a flat brush and dabbed onto the eyelid with a light hand.

The colour lasted all night long and I have never had so many compliments about my eyes.
