Hi all, today's blog is a 'first impression' of the Saharan palette by Juvia's Place.

Even though I've only posted a couple of times, it is fairly obvious that I have a thing for warm eye looks. So, you can imagine my reaction when I saw this...

Hot damn, right??

As soon as I set eyes on this palette I felt an overwhelming urge to own it. Fantastic reviews only fueled this fire.

The Saharan palette cost me AUD $25.50 plus an extra $18.50 for shipping. Compared to my last few purchases, the shipping was considerably more expensive. Instead of shipping directly from the U.S. it came via Germany... which was a bit odd.

The shipment estimate was 12 to 21 days and sure enough, 18 days later I received my package. So, while I paid a fair bit more than usual for postage it did end up being a bit faster.

When I sat down to use this palette for the first time, the colours I wanted to dig into first were Kia (green) and Wodaabe (gold). So, naturally, I chickened out and went for an extremely safe brown and pink smoky eye. I'm disappointing, I know. What wasn't disappointing was this palette!

These colours have great pigment - especially the oranges. I love the bold, statement shades on this palette. I just wish I could work up the guts to use them all!

I originally had a green and copper eye planned for this palette but when crunch time came, I crumbled. Can you wear green on blue eyes? I guess I'll have to work up the courage to find out...

I had very high expectations when I bought this palette, as some very prominent Beauty Gurus have claimed that Juvia's Place has the best eye shadow formula to date. That's a pretty big claim. I have to admit that I wasn't blown away.

The pigment is stunning and the quality is definitely there but I think that my Winky Lux Kitten palette is less chalky and easier to blend. This could be due to a change in my technique or more practice, as I bought the Kitten palette quite some time after I received my Juvia's Place one.

Because I am unsure if the difference is due to some change in myself, I will be revisiting this palette and trying to pull together the green and copper look. In the meantime, here is what I came up with for a first try.

I am still obsessed with the colour range in this palette and I'm super excited to try it again. I think it makes a nice addition to my collection of brown, taupe, pink and purple eye shadows!

This is more of a 'first impression' than a review because I do feel like I owe it a few more goes before I sell it short. Look out for an update very soon!
